The Chancellor of Maricopa Community Colleges, Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick, was named – along with David Tierney – Valley Leadership’s 68th Annual Man & Woman of the Year. Both honorees were spotlighted during the luncheon on March 30 at the Arizona Biltmore.
In November 2016, a surprise party-style announcement was made when the Chancellor and Tierney, a Sacks Tierney P.A. Partner and a Phoenix and Scottsdale-based mediator and construction lawyer, arrived at the Arizona Community Foundation to “pitch for funding for projects that they’re passionate about.” Instead, they were welcomed as honorees for the 68th Man & Woman of the Year for Valley Leadership.
Valley Leadership is a collection of leadership programs in the Valley with the goal of empowering youth and high-potential and established leaders to enhance and accelerate their passions and pursuits.
Valley Leadership’s Man & Woman of the Year Luncheon has hosted some of the most prominent business and community leaders in metro Phoenix, and acts as a major fundraiser for Valley Leadership. Past recipients have included Senator Barry Goldwater, Arizona State University President Dr. Michael Crow, and SpeakOut Arizona Founder Elva Coor.
