Four MCCCD Faculty Members Earn Nationally Distinguished Recognition
Mar, 2 2018
Congratulations and well-deserved recognition to:
· Rich Cuprak, faculty chair, engineering and applied technology, Rio Salado College
· Jerome Garrison, music faculty, South Mountain Community College
· Rita Perry, dental assisting program director, Phoenix College
· Shannon Ruth, residential math faculty, GateWay Community College
The Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty recognition honors individuals making a difference in the classroom by demonstrating a passion for students; being willing to support students, inside and outside of the classroom; participating in college committees, and going above and beyond what is required to ensure students are successful in their academic endeavors.
“The strength and impact of Maricopa Community Colleges is powered by the exceptional faculty throughout our system. This national recognition of four of our faculty represents the drive that our entire faculty has to make a difference in the lives of our students," said Chancellor Maria Harper-Marinick. "We are extremely fortunate to have Rich, Jerome, Rita and Ruth as members of the Maricopa community.”
Our deserving faculty members will be presented with the award during the AACC’s annual convention, to be held April 28 – May 1, in Dallas. As distinguished faculty honorees, they will receive a commemorative medal, recognition on the AACC website’s Faculty Wall of Distinction, special reserved seating at the Edmund J. Gleazer Opening Lecture, and a private reception with author Jeanette Walls.
The primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges, AACC represents nearly 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and more than 12 million students. The AACC annual meeting is among the largest and most dynamic gatherings of educational leaders, attracting over 2,000 community college presidents and senior administrators, as well as international educators, representatives of business/industry and federal agencies.
