Maricopa Colleges Television was recently honored with three Telly awards and eight Communicator awards for their excellence in television programing, writing, and video production. Both Telly and Communicator awards honor outstanding achievements across all screens, highlighting work that transcends innovation and craft. This year’s 39th annual Telly awards brought in a record number of entries, with MCTV taking home three Bronze awards in the categories of food and beverage, craft-writing, and education/institution. “Each person on the MCTV team had a hand in this, said Rene Blatte’ MCTV, General Manager. Rene states that this honor “speaks to the commitment to excellence we have for each and every project we work on.”
Telly Awards Winners:
Food and Beverage Category: Handlebar Diner — Reporter Lisa Acquafredda visits with Mesa Community College Alumnus and Chef extraordinaire Adam Allison. Chef Adam owns and operates the hit eatery, the Handlebar Diner.
Educational Institution Category: Maricopa Now (April 2018 edition) — Maricopa Now is in its 13th year of production and continues to feature student success stories as well as dynamic academic programs and faculty. Each month Maricopa Now producers visit the various campuses to highlight how students are realizing their goals and how Maricopa Community Colleges is meeting the workforce needs across the valley and state.
Craft-Writing Category: Kim Goetz — Maricopa Now producer and show host Kim Goetz has been with MCTV for eight years producing inspiring and compelling student success stories for Maricopa Now and other programs. Goetz coaches and assists reporters and producers coordinating story ideas and meeting show deadlines.
