Six Academic Advisors Awarded for Excellence in their Profession

Six Maricopa Community Colleges academic advisors were recently recognized by their peers for excellence in their work. The awards were presented at the District Academic Advisement Committee's tenth annual academic advisement conference on Feb. 23, 2018 at Mesa Community College.  This year’s conference theme, “Transforming Lives Through Advisement,” focused on advisement within the context of Guided Pathways.

The selection committee was comprised of employees with extensive knowledge and experience in academic advising, but currently working in other roles. From over fifty nominations, the following recipients were selected:

The winners are as follows:

  • Julie Humphrey – Academic Advisor of the Year (Phoenix College)

  • Ann Dodge – Innovator of the Year (Phoenix College)

  • Michelle Tanner – Rookie Advisor of the Year (Phoenix College)

  • Jimmy Berlin – Team Player of the Year (Phoenix College)

  • Angie Rose – Outstanding Service to Students (GateWay Community College)

  • Mike Ross – Outstanding Service to Students (Rio Salado College)
