MCCCD Supports Student Success During National Disability Employment Awareness Month

TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 9, 2020 — For National Disability Employment Awareness Month this October, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is bringing awareness to its student services for individuals who have disabilities.

According to the National Center for Learning Disabilities, students who have learning disabilities enroll in four-year colleges at half the rate of the general population and have a college completion rate of 41 percent, in addition to being twice as likely to be unemployed compared to adults who do not have disabilities.

By offering resources and services to support students who have disabilities, MCCCD is bridging the gap and encouraging these students in earning a degree, keeping them on track for a successful career. Disability Service Facilitators are available at each of MCCCD's 10 colleges across Greater Phoenix to guide students and help them receive appropriate support and accommodations.

In addition to supporting students, MCCCD also offers Disability Resources and Services (DRS) to employees, fostering an environment of inclusion and accessibility for all.

To learn more about DRS, please visit this website. Find more information on each College’s DRS resources below.
